Professor Wright has earned a Master of Public Policy, with a concentration in international finance, from Harvard’s Kennedy School, a Juris Doctor from the University of Chicago, and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland.
Before beginning his academic career in 2010, Prof. Wright worked for Steptoe & Johnson, LLP in Washington, DC, representing institutions and individuals in both civil tax controversies and criminal tax matters, as well as assisting businesses structure operations and raise capital. Prior to joining Steptoe, Prof. Wright served at a Trial Attorney with the Tax Division of the US Department of Justice. While at DOJ, Prof. Wright lead trial teams throughout the county prosecuting tax, as well as other white collar defendants, and was appointed to serve on the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force.
Before joining DOJ, Prof. Wright worked with Bank of America, structuring tax-advantaged derivative products, and with Skadden Arps, et al., drafting tax opinions and representing banking institutions.
