Tee Persad, Esq.

Mr. Persad has worked in the legal profession for over 20 years. He is licensed to practice law in Florida, the United States Virgin Islands, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals and before the U.S. Supreme Court. He earned his Juris Doctor and Masters degree in Public Administration degree from the University of Akron in 1993 and 1994, respectively. He also holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in Business Administration from the University of the Virgin Islands, a diploma in paralegal studies from New York University, and certification from the Harvard Law School Program on Negotiation, Leadership, and Conflict Resolution.

Mr. Persad’s experience in the legal field includes not only is experience as a lawyer, but also as a  judicial clerk to judges in the U.S. Virgin Islands and Ohio, mediator, and arbitrator.

Mr. Persad has represented individual clients on a pro bono basis, middle income clients, wealthy clients, small and medium sized businesses, and Fortune 500 companies. His client list includes the everyday worker, lawyers, doctors, growing businesses, and multinational corporations. His experience in almost every area of practice gives him the ability to identify and solve complex personal and business issues ranging from complex family, immigration, employment, bankruptcy and criminal law issues, to complex business and administrative law issues. His practice includes representing: 1) small, medium, and large businesses with litigation, employment, transactional issues, transitional, and growth issues; 2) business owners with complex personal business and family related legal issues; and 3) high level executives with complex personal, business, and family related legal issue.

Mediation

Mr. Persad is certified by the Florida Supreme Court as a Circuit Civil Mediator and Family Law Mediator, and by the Superior Court of the U.S. Virgin Islands to mediate all cases in the U.S. Virgin Islands. He has mediated complex civil cases (including class actions, adversary proceedings involving governmental agencies, personal injury cases, commercial litigation cases, and real estate matters), complex family law cases (including high net worth cases, complex children related issues, and complex alimony cases).  He is available to mediate cases throughout the State of Florida and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Seminars and Public Speaking Engagements

In addition to practicing law, Mr. Persad is a presenter at seminars, chambers of commerce, businesses and community events, and appears as a guest speaker at many functions, including university graduations as the commencement speaker.  He has presented seminars on a wide variety of business issues including entrepreneurship, business organizations, business planning, organizational behavior, systems planning and analysis, crisis planning and management, and team building; and on a wide variety of legal issues, including fundamentals of bankruptcy, business law, litigation, mediation, and complex family law.  He has been featured as the guest and motivational speaker at schools, religious institutions, businesses, and public organizations.

Community Service

Mr. Persad also offers his time and expertise to the community. He has served on the Florida Bar Association’s Unlicensed Practice of Law Committee for the 9th Judicial Circuit. He often speaks to the community youth on life and career choices, and educational goals. He has served as a director of several local chambers of commerce, and has donated numerous hours of his time to represent indigent clients on a pro bono basis.
