Ms. Freitas handles all matters involving divorce, child support, alimony, distribution of assets (including family businesses, investment plans, retirement plans and real property), modification of prior court orders, paternity, time-sharing (formally “custody”), and enforcement.
Ms. Freitas’ family law practice encourages resolution and concentrates on productive and positive problem solving. She is dedicated to exploring all reasonable and creative settlement options so that the best interests of the family as a whole may be served.
Ms. Freitas has several years of real estate law experience. Her experience was gained representing clients in a private law firm where she practiced real estate law as well as working as in-house counsel performing residential and commercial real estate transactions and negotiating and drafting real estate agreements.
Ms. Freitas’ transactional real estate practice encompasses a broad range of commercial real estate, including single-family and master-planned community development, homebuilding, entitlement issues, property owner associations, acquisitions and dispositions of improved and unimproved property, retail development and leasing, multi-family, real estate finance on both the lender and borrower sides, office development and leasing, closings and loan workouts.
A portion of Ms. Freitas’ practice is dedicated to closings, however, she has experience in many facets of real estate law including preparation and negotiation of management and brokerage contracts, office and retail leases, ground leases, leasehold mortgages, representing not-for-profit and religious institutions seeking to buy, sell or otherwise encumber real property, assisting clients with Industrial Development Agency financings and all the while remaining active as counsel for purchasers, sellers and lenders of single-family homes, and condominiums.
Ms. Freitas’ experience as a court operations-certified court interpreter and a certified Portuguese translator is invaluable to her public and private clients who have international interests in the US, Portugal, and Brazil.
Ms. Freitas is an active member in the Orange County Bar Association (OCBA) Family Law Section, and regularly writes articles in Nossa Gente and the local Brazilian newspaper. When she is not writing or practicing law, Ms. Freitas enjoys spending time with her family, going to parks, movies, or dinners.
